Testimonials
“Out of all the yoga instructors I have taken classes from in the past ten years, Bethania is by far my favorite. After taking a break from yoga due low back pain after class, I have returned to yoga, thanks to feeling only the pleasant burn of a successful workout after her classes. With her illustrative analogies, helpful corrections, and creative sequences, I not only remain engaged and encouraged throughout class but also can’t wait to come back for more!” –Annie D.
“Feel invigorated, and invincible. Seriously though, thanks!!” –E.C.
“I’ve been doing yoga for quite some time, but very rarely come across someone with the knowledge that Bethania has. Her understanding of the body and of yoga really helped me to pinpoint and address some of the things that had been holding me back in my practice, things that many other teachers had missed in the past. I leave both her classes and private lessons with a light feeling and excitement to practice what I’ve learned.”
“I think when I first saw yoga, I thought it’d be a fun, easy exercise, not really a strenuous workout. Just a bunch of people stretching in a room. But as it turns out, your body, your torso, your legs, your arms, all weigh something. And moving those parts into balanced and graceful positions worked out muscles that I didn’t even know existed. My legs were quivering from the stabilizers not being used to supporting my whole body weight. The day after was like no other sensation I’ve felt after working out–the morning, where I’d usually be sore after lifting, was perfectly fine. But slowly, a soreness crept into the various stabilizers, the different parts of my back, the back of my legs. And that felt great.” –Winston, Harvard medical student
In response to Restorative Yoga Workshop:
“This workshop was fabulous. Bethania is a wonderful teacher — gentle, kind, gives good clear instructions. I felt very different after the workshop — free, clear, relaxed, peaceful. A far cry from how I felt upon coming into the workshop. I have only taken one yoga class prior to this workshop so it was perfect for all levels.” –Colleen Quinn
Five-star review from Yelp:
“Today marks the day that has been a long time coming…
My first yoga class. Ever. Apparently, people have been doing this for years. Call me late to the game or whatever, but yoga is something that has always intrigued me from afar; athletically inclined women hauling around their neatly rolled mats to and from work, on Saturday and Sunday mornings when I was shoveling brunch in my face. Always wanting to try, I could never muster up the courage to join these obviously experienced goddesses of calm who would laugh at my clumsy poses and mock my non-stretchy far-from-nimble body. After attending a Fundamentals Vinyasa class at Karma, I am kicking myself for not starting sooner.
Though I’ve only taken one class, my visit to Karma may be useful to those in my previous position. Intimidated or lacking experience? The fundamentals class with Bethania was certainly not what I could call easy (my quivering legs and sore, sore arms will attest to that), but was paced so that I could follow, understand and even learn the movements without feeling rushed or embarrassed. Bethania came over throughout the class to help students with their form, placing gentle pressure where necessary and speaking in a low, soothing voice. After class, she was kind enough to walk me through the class types and when they were taking place.
Drop-in classes are $15, unlimited memberships are $110. Though I’ll probably take a few more classes before committing to a membership, Karma will likely be the studio I choose, as they provided me with a comfortable, friendly, educational atmosphere and a great first Yoga experience.” –Leighann F.
